Almost all machine tools can use standard high-pressure coolant at 70/80 bar (1015/1160 psi). Some machines can even provide higher coolant pressures up to 150 bar (2176 psi) for
demanding operations and difficult materials.
This can be a great benefit for both turning and drilling operations, however, it is important to note:
The benefits can only be realized if tools are developed for high-precision coolant application. For example, turning tools with through-coolant drills and precise coolant injection.
The coolant pressure required for chip breaking in turning applications depends on the coolant nozzle design, the workpiece material being machined, and the depth of cut and feed
The required coolant flow rate depends on the pressure and the total coolant delivery area of the tool channel
Select the right tool and coolant pump (pressure and flow) for each machining application. The right high-pressure coolant system will increase machine utilization and metal cutting efficiency,
resulting in a fast return on investment.
