The aerospace industry is one of the industries with excellent technical requirements today, and aircraft engine parts are one of the most difficult parts to process. The flexible, modular CoroTurn SL70 tooling system with round inserts can be used in the roughing and finishing stages of typical profiling cuts and pockets. The SL70 system
is a good choice for turbine disk processing. Turbine disks are made of difficult-to-machine alloy materials and have complex features, usually with special-shaped cavities and
various stringent spacing requirements.
The fan disk is made of titanium and some grooves and dovetail grooves must be machined. CoroCut angle inserts specialize in hard-to-reach grooves. They are available in a
wide range of standard shapes, so no special tools are required.
For the machining of turbine casings, large quantities of difficult materials (such as Inconel and Waspalloy) must be removed through rough milling processes. Ceramic turning
and milling inserts can run 20 to 30 times faster than carbide – albeit at lower feed rates – but the result is increased productivity.

One of the challenges of spindle machining is the deep cavity. Machining these cavities, which are up to 150 mm deep, requires slender tools. Thanks to the Coromant Capto®
